Unfortunately, there are still many companies out there trying to scam people for a quick buck by tricking them into doing major, unnecessary renovations at a supposedly very low cost. Fortunately, a couple, when faced with the dilemma of having to completely rebuild their bathroom, made the smart choice of looking for a second option and found our tile cleaning services in Morristown, NJ.

Before and After Picture of a Shower Tile Cleaning Job in Morristown, New Jersey
This took place weeks ago, when the couple started to notice that their shower looked a bit dirty and dull. Coincidentally, they had been putting some money aside to gradually renovate their home, and what better place to start than their bathroom.

Not having done any other renovation before, they didn't put much thought into picking a contractor. They stopped by a company they always drove past on their way to work. It always had big banners on display about their latest promotions and "unbeatable prices."

A few days later, the company showed up at their door for a quick inspection. After only a couple of minutes, they told the couple the bathroom would need to be completely broken-down and rebuilt to get it back to tiptop shape. In other words, they would have to replace all the tiles on both the shower walls and floor. The couple was absolutely shocked to hear this.

For the amount of work that had to be done, they didn't seem to charge a lot. Their estimate could even be considered a bit cheap. It was just too good to be true. This immediately raised a red flag for the husband, who decided on a bit of research to find out what previous customers had to say about this contractor. Everything seemed fine on the surface, but after doing a little digging, he found reviews from customers who said they had been scammed into unnecessary, low-quality renovations.

After this unpleasant discovery, the couple decided to search for a second opinion. There, they stumbled upon our website and learned how we had been able to deal with even worse problems without having to perform a major renovation. Convinced we could help, they grabbed the phone and contacted us for a free in-home evaluation.

The In-Home Evaluation
Upon inspection, our experts found that the shower indeed needed some restoration, but nothing as drastic as having to completely rebuild it. The black tile floor and grout lines were covered with water stains and dirt, plus the surface seemed to have a deteriorated shiny coating that simply wasn't doing it any justice. On the other hand, the white tiles on the wall looked dull and dirty, due most likely to stains produced by using inadequate cleaners.

To restore this shower, we recommended doing a deep clean on both the walls and the shower floor, followed by re-grouting using a more appropriate epoxy grout. We would apply sealant to the grout and remove the floor's shiny coating, leaving it with a uniform modern-black matte look. Finally, we promised the couple this entire service would be done in a single day at most.

The couple gladly accepted the assessment and booked the next available date. They were pleasantly surprised and relieved that these three simple procedures would restore their shower, instead of the costly 2-week full renovation they were first proposed.

The Multistage Restoration Process
When the restoration day finally arrived, the couple quickly led our technicians to the shower, so they could get the job underway. As soon as the area was cleared, and all adjacent surfaces protected, they started to carefully strip the floor of its shiny coating, then they applied our proprietary pH-neutral cleaner throughout the whole shower. After letting the cleaner sit for a while, they used a high-speed scrubber to remove the dirt and stains from all surfaces.

Once the shower was clean and dry, our crew proceeded to remove the grout on both the shower walls and floor, so they could replace it with a more durable epoxy grout. This specific kind of grout is perfect for humid places such as bathrooms because it is non-porous, unlike regular grout. In other words, being non-porous means, it doesn't absorb water and thereby prevents problems such as mildew, mold, and stains.

Finally, the new grout was ColorSealed to give it an original uniform color on the shower walls and a whole new matte black all around the floor. The best part about this special sealant is that it not only serves to enhance the grout's aesthetics, but it also gives it an extra layer of protection.

The Outcome
The shower floor and walls turned out fantastic. The joy on the couple's face was truly noticeable. Not only were they very pleased with the results, but also relieved as they had really dodged a bullet by deciding to look for a second opinion.

Before leaving, our experts advised them to avoid acidic, alkaline, or petroleum-based cleaners on their newly restored shower. By doing so, they would drastically prolong the durability of the grout and its sealant, as those chemicals are known to cause them serious damage.
